Tip: "Send Last Location to Apple" helps recover a lost phone

Many of us have stories of using Find My Phone to locate a missing device. Well, a new feature in iOS 8 could help you locate a lost phone, even if it runs out of battery. Here's how to enable it.

  1. Open Settings → iCloud → Find My iPhone
  2. Turn on "Send Last Location"

Now, whenever your phone's battery becomes critically low, it will quickly report its location to Apple. Sure, someone could still transport your phone elsewhere, but at least you know exactly where it was before its battery went kaput. This would be especially helpful if the phone is still lingering at a friend's house or restaurant.

Oh, and this feature also works on your iPad, so be sure to enable it there, as well.
