Three Announcements

Hi Friends, I have three rather fun announcements to make.

The Mac Instructor is one year old!

While it was hard to leave my friends at Apple Retail, it has been an absolute blast meeting all of you. Together, we’ve mastered the Inbox, swept away clutter, produced glorious slideshows, and become far more productive. I’ve joyfully watched you gain more passion for your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Thank you!

I’m also thrilled to announce my partnership with Infomedia. Together, we are bringing you Mac Instructor Workshops. Infomedia’s classroom is comfortable, spacious, and absolutely quiet. It’s one of the best tech learning environments in Birmingham! We already have two workshops on the schedule for later this month: “Getting Started on the Mac” and “Hands on with iPhoto.” Each workshop is two hours and will cost $50. More topics and dates will be added in the future, based on interest. These topics might be a refresher for you, so if you know someone who could benefit, please forward this info along to them!

Off-Site Backup

Many of you are like me. Your precious memories and major work projects are stored on your computer, and it would be simply catastrophic to lose this data. Even small collections, like all your passwords, installed apps, and address book contacts would be quite tedious to rebuild. Thankfully, most of you have a backup hard drive somewhere in your home. But how would you protect your data against something like theft, power surge, or big time accidents?

As of today, I am offering off-site backup. The service costs $150 and gives you several things. First, I will come to your home and install a small app which will backup your Mac to my server over the internet. Your data is encrypted before it is sent, so not I will even be able to view your data. Upon the need for recovery, I will swiftly restore your data back to your Mac. The $150 includes installation, storage for one year, and one hour of personal recovery performed by the Mac Instructor. If you want this additional level of protection, visit this page to learn more or just give me a call.

Thank you again for making this such a fantastic year. Going forward, I hope Workshops and Backup will be services that nicely compliment our in-home training. I look forward to many more years to come!
