Are you ready for Apple’s next big cat? Last week, Apple gave the Gold Master of Lion 10.7 to developers, meaning a final release is coming soon. Reliable rumors are saying Lion will emerge on July 14th. As I have mentioned before, I think Lion is something everyone should install on their Mac. Apple’s aim is to bring the fun and ease-of-use from the iPad back to the Mac. But please know this before you install it on your Mac: no upgrade is perfect and sometimes there are bugs in the installation process. Do not upgrade to Lion unless you have a reliable backup of your entire Mac. My favorite backup method is Time Machine, and if you need help setting it up, please contact me. The only extra thing you need for Time Machine is an external hard drive. These days, you can pick one up waiting in line at Walgreens, and 90% of users don’t need to buy one more than $100. My mother always says patience is a virtue. If you’re willing and able to wait until Apple pushes out update 10.7.1, you can pretty much be assured most bugs will be squashed. Subscribe to this blog so that you know when that occurs. Oh, and have a fantastic Fourth of July weekend!
