Mac App Store is Here

Rick StawarzApps, Mac

Today is a big day for Mac users. Apple has just released the Mac App Store, which you can get for free if your computer is running 10.6 Snow Leopard. Just run your software update to download it (click on black apple in top left of your screen, and choose “Software Update”). After your computer restarts, you’ll see the App Store logo down in your dock.

So what does this mean for you? Up until today, installing software on the Mac has been a huge pain. One of the hardest things for me to teach is how this process works. (If you see a Skype logo on your desktop every time you turn on your computer, your a victim of this confusing process!) DMGs, disk images, and ejecting can get tedious. Well, all that gets fixed today!

If you an an iPhone, you know how easy installing (and deleting) apps should be. The Mac App Store brings the ease of finding, installing, and updating apps from the iPhone to the Mac. I encourage you to surf around and see if anything catches your attention! Stay tuned to this blog for some of the favorites that I find.
