This week has me feeling the same way when I take my daughters to the zoo. The Lion decided not to come out. He is sleeping in his cave. But a few other things did happen, showing that Apple will release the next major upgrade to the Mac very soon. First, Apple sent out updates to the iLife apps, readying them for Lion's full-screen mode. Then, Mac developers were asked to submit their Lion supported apps, and many are actually starting to populate the Mac App Store. This of course makes sense. Apple wants you to load Lion on your Mac and fall in love with the new features, which depend upon individual apps to be updated. Which is why I think Apple still needs to update Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Right now, the iWork apps don't utilize versioning, full-screen mode, or auto-save. As tent pole features, there's no way Apple will let Lion out of the cave until iWork has been fully primed. So here's my guess. Monday or Tuesday will see iWork updates appear via Software Update or the Mac App Store. And then on Thursday, the Lion will emerge.
